The Old School Guest House in Lanarkshire has announced it is expanding the property with new rooms, a restaurant, bar, coffee shop and cooking school.

The hospitality business, situated in Larkhall, has been purchased by husband and wife team Richard and Jane Koiak, brother-in-law and sister of the original founders. Established in 2010, the accommodation facilities will be expanded to include six new rooms, including five en-suite rooms and a separate annexe bungalow sleeping up to four people.

The restaurant will open mainly in the evenings, while the bar will serve a selection of meals throughout the day in addition to cakes and lunches served at the coffee shop. Richard and Jane also hope to use the restaurant and kitchen facilities to host a cookery school and will be partnering with a local chef to deliver a range of courses.

Richard Koiak, owner of the Old School Guest House, said: “We could see the potential of the guest house immediately, thanks to its location – only a ten-minute drive to Chatelherault Park and other local attractions, as well is under an hour to Loch Lomond and various golf courses – and the guest house’s wide range of existing facilities.

“We’re pleased to be expanding our offering to guests even further, with the new restaurant, guest lounge and bar currently under construction, to create a destination for visitors and members of the local community alike”

He added: “Royal Bank of Scotland has provided a high level of advice and support throughout the purchase and refurbishment of the premises, and as a small business with multiple things to juggle, we’ve been very grateful for their guidance.”
