Jacobean manor used as filming location for Wuthering Heights joins hotel group

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Classic British Hotels has added Holdsworth House Hotel and Restaurant to its portfolio of independent properties.

The 17th Century Jacobean manor in West Yorkshire is a Grade II listed building set within three acres of gardens.

The 33-room hotel was built in 1633 and retains original features including stone mullioned windows and oak-panelled halls.

It is located eight miles from Haworth and the Brontë Parsonage Museum.

The property has served as a filming location for several television productions, including Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack, and Last Tango in Halifax. It recently provided the backdrop for a 2026 adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Holdsworth House also includes a restaurant serving locally sourced cuisine and facilities for corporate events. The venue can accommodate up to 120 delegates for meetings and residential training days.

The estate has been family-owned since 1963. Under the new partnership, the hotel will retain its independent management while accessing the sales and marketing resources of the Classic British Hotels brand.

Phillip Allsopp, managing director of Classic British Hotels, said: “Holdsworth House is more than just a hotel; it is a living piece of Yorkshire history. The fact that it continues to be the first choice for world class directors and actors is a testament to its unique character. It offers a level of privacy, heritage, and quiet luxury that is increasingly rare, making it a powerhouse asset within our curated collection.”

Chris Meehan, general manager of Holdsworth House, added: “We take great pride in being a home-away-from-home for the creative community. Whether it’s a director seeking the quiet of our parterre gardens or a lead actor looking for a discreet retreat after a filming on the moors, our team is expert at providing that seamless, high-end service. Our connection to Wuthering Heights feels particularly special, given our close proximity to Brontë Country.”
