Capella Hotel Group has appointed Feisal Jaffer as chief development officer as the company looks to expand its global portfolio and double its hospitality footprint by 2030.

In the newly created role, Jaffer will lead development activity across the group’s Capella Hotels and Resorts and Patina Hotels and Resorts brands, overseeing global expansion plans, hospitality-focused real estate platforms and relationships with investment partners.

The appointment marks a return to the business for Jaffer, who previously served as senior vice president of acquisitions and development at Pontiac Land Group between 2014 and 2019. During that period, he worked on projects including Patina Maldives and Capella Sydney.

Jaffer joins from Hilton Worldwide, where he most recently served as global head of LXR Hotels and Resorts. During his tenure, the brand’s development pipeline grew to more than 40 properties across five continents.

His appointment comes as Capella Hotel Group prepares for a series of international openings, including Capella Nanjing later this year, followed by new properties in Riyadh and Florence.

Evan Kwee, vice chairman of Capella Hotel Group, said: “Feisal has been central to some of our most significant projects: Fari Islands, Capella Sydney, the creation of the Patina brand. Over the years I have come to trust his judgment across the full breadth of what we do: shaping a brand, designing a guest experience, structuring an investment and closing a complex international transaction."

Jaffer added: “Capella and Patina represent something rare: industry-defining brands with genuine soul. To return at such a pivotal moment, to help advance the Group’s global development under Roland’s leadership and contribute to the family’s investment and real estate interests, is a tremendous privilege."
