Trump Turnberry on the South Ayrshire coast, Scotland, has closed its doors until June 2016 to undergo a £200m renovation.

The upgrade of the golf resort, which is operated under Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury Collection brand, will include a complete overhaul of its 157 guestrooms, suites, corridors, restaurants and public spaces.

The work will also include the addition of a 500-capacity grand ballroom and the renovation of the Ailsa Championship golf course.

Eric Trump, executive vice-president of development and acquisitions for The Trump Organization, which owns the property, said: “My father and I have assembled a world-class team consisting of the best architects, contractors and restoration specialists. When completed, Trump Turnberry will be the most luxurious hotel anywhere in the UK and beyond.

“Having already completed vast renovations to the magnificent golf clubhouse and select public areas, we are thrilled to move into the second phase of our major renovation.”

Trump is the son of the Republican candidate and property tycoon Donald Trump.
