In a new series of online articles, we look at some of the most famous people making a move into the hotel industry – this time it’s Cristiano Ronaldo

In the first of this series we take a look at Cristiano Ronaldo’s new Pestana CR7 hotel, which opened in Lisbon, Portugal, last month.
The property – the second in the CR7 brand following the opening of its first hotel in Funchal, Madeira, earlier this year – is a collaboration between the Real Madrid star, Ronaldo, and Pestana, the largest international hotel group to come out of Portugal.
The hotel’s 82 bedrooms – named CR rooms, CR Superior rooms, CR Superior Rooftop and the CR7 Suite – have views overlooking the city’s skyline and some of its most famous monuments.
All rooms are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, Apple TVs as well as Bluetooth audio, HDMI connections and LED lighting in the showers, while the CR Rooms and the CR7 Suites have seen the addition of a Playstation 4 and virtual reality glasses this month.
The high-tech hotel will also provide ‘Wi-Fi To Go’, giving guests access to the internet both inside and outside the hotel.
If you’re not a big fan of football this hotel probably isn’t for you. The ‘CR7 experience’ begins as soon as guests step inside the lobby. Animated screens in the lifts display Ronaldo’s life story, while surround sound sensors on the staircases are used to project the sound of cheering fans in a football stadium.
The modestly-named experience continues into the bedrooms where guests will find a detailed sequence of seven footsteps on the carpets – a replication of the footballer’s real sprint.
