The Gables guesthouse in Ambleside, located in the Lake District, has been brought to market with an asking price of £1.395m.

The Victorian property, which dates back to 1946, is situated near Ambleside Parish Church and is a short walk from the centre of the village and the Lake District National Park.

The guesthouse has 17 en suite bedrooms with countryside views and a breakfast room. A separate three-bedroom manager’s apartment with a living room, bathroom and recently renovated kitchen is also included, accessible via the car park and breakfast room.

The current owner, Panchadcharam Ponnuthurai, is selling the property to be closer to family. He said: “I was delighted when I took on The Gables guesthouse as I had found a great business and was delighted to welcome so many new and returning guests. The Gables continued to meet and exceed expectations due to fantastic, local staff.

“Since I bought the guesthouse, our family circumstances have changed and as I am now spending more time with family in other parts of the UK. I have been privileged to have met wonderful guests during my time here, and we do hope that the new owners will enjoy their time here as much as I have.”

Graham Wilkinson, business agent at Christie and Co, who is handling the sale, added: “The Gables guesthouse offers the new owner a superb opportunity to acquire a larger-than-average guesthouse in the very heart of the Lake District and in one of the most popular and desirable trading locations in the north of England.

“For a new owner this is an excellent, turn-key, lifestyle opportunity that benefits from strong occupancy rates and a great reputation.”
