NUMA Group launches first UK property in Brighton

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Digital hospitality company NUMA Group has opened its first property in Brighton as part of a broader expansion drive across the UK.

The Berlin-based firm has taken over the former MyBrighton Hotel in partnership with NWH Group. Located on Jubilee Street in Brighton’s North Laine, the property includes 84 units and 172 beds, and is expected to open this summer.

NUMA plans to modernise the site with its in-house technology platform, offering what it describes as a “fully digital guest experience”.

Philipp Rohweder, senior advisor real estate at NUMA Group, said: “Brighton, with its vibrant cultural scene and coastal charm, is a perfect fit for NUMA’s innovative hospitality model. As a favourite destination for both domestic and international travellers, Brighton strengthens our footprint in the UK and demonstrates our commitment to bringing modern, digital-first accommodations to the country’s most exciting locations.”

The launch follows NUMA’s acquisition of Native Places in 2024 and comes as part of its wider UK expansion. The company said it was targeting further growth in cities including London, Manchester, Bristol, Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

NUMA is currently active in 15 countries and 36 cities, with nearly 9,000 units across Europe.

Henry Jackson, head of hotel brokerage at Knight Frank, which acted for NUMA on the deal, added: “Brighton is one of the UK’s most dynamic hospitality markets, and NUMA’s entry here demonstrates their understanding of the demand for modern, guest-centric accommodations.”
