In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Crafted has announced that it is set to open Crafted at Powdermills in November following a refurbishment.

Set in a Georgian country house in the heart of Sussex, Powdermills offers 55 rooms and suites alongside a pub, restaurant, cocktail bar, craft barn, art studio, members club, and outdoor pool. Workshops, cultural programs, and onsite growing plots complement the property’s nature-first ethos

Alongside this, the company has revealed that it has chosen Mews as the operating system to power the new property.

Chris King, founder of Crafted, said: “We want everything to be easy – for our guests and for our team. I’ve already found my way around Mews and we’re not even live yet. The intuitive platform gives us flexibility and integrates effortlessly with our systems, helping us deliver a modern, seamless experience from booking to check out.”

Matt Welle, CEO of Mews, added: “Crafted at Powdermills is reimagining what hospitality in nature can be. We’re proud to support a brand that prioritizes wellness, creativity, and connection, using technology to make every guest journey effortless.”

The opening of Powdermills marks the first step in Crafted’s ambitious expansion plans, with more properties set to follow across the UK and beyond.

Each location will be unique to its setting but united by a shared ethos: nature-first, creatively charged, and powered by technology that puts people at the heart of hospitality.

Mews Hospitality Cloud powers over 12,500 customers across more than 85 countries, the company has raised $410m (£306m) from investors including Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Kinnevik and Tiger Global Management to transform hospitality.
