In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The Zleep Hotel Hamburg Volkspark has opened in the west of the city, becoming the brand’s second site in Germany after Frankfurt-Kelsterbach. The 204-room property is located close to the Volksparkstadion and Barclays Arena.

The economy hotel, part of Steigenberger Hotels GmbH, offers a Scandinavian-inspired design with minimalist interiors and natural materials. It includes digital check-in terminals, a combined reception and bar area, and a lounge-style lobby with snack facilities. A small meeting room and self-service lockers are also available.

Designed by Hamburg firm Kiskan Kaufmann Architekten, the property features container-style architecture and will be certified to the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Facilities include on-site parking and bicycle storage. The S-Bahn station Eidelstedt is a ten-minute walk away, and the A7 motorway can be reached by car in three minutes.

Stephan Hungeling, chief executive of Steigenberger Hotels, said: “With the opening of the Zleep Hotel Hamburg Volkspark, we are bringing our economy lifestyle brand to one of Europe’s most dynamic cities. With seven hotels now open, we are represented across all segments – from economy to upscale – in Hamburg, further strengthening our position in the local market.”

Giuliano Graßmuck, hotel manager of Zleep Hotel Hamburg Volkspark, added: “At Zleep Hotel Hamburg Volkspark, we combine Scandinavian flair with functional comfort. The lobby’s cosy lounge areas offer space to arrive, work and unwind – whether during the day for co-working or with a refreshing drink after a football match or concert. The hotel is the ideal choice for price-conscious travellers who also value design and a welcoming atmosphere.”

Zleep Hotels, a Danish brand within the Deutsche Hospitality group, also operates sites in Madrid, Prague, Lausanne-Chavannes and Zurich-Kloten. Further openings are planned in Leipzig, Bern-West and Lucerne-Emmenbrücke.
