400 year-old Kenilworth hotel brought to market for £1.25m

The freehold for the Old Bakery, a historic hotel and restaurant in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, has been brought to the property market for £1.25m.

The Grade II listed building was originally established as a traditional bakery in 1825, trading as Kenilworth’s main bakehouse, before being sympathetically converted and renovated in the 1990s.

Having also undergone an extension to provide additional bedrooms, the Elizabethan property now comprises 14 bedrooms, all with en suite facilities, a bar/restaurant with capacity for 46 covers, and a self contained, two bedroom owner’s apartment.

Current owners, Alan and Janet Blackburn have run The Old Bakery for over 14 years and in that time have built up a well established business, earning many accolades including a Certificate of Service Excellence from TripAdvisor and received Warwickshire Best Pub of the Year from CAMRA for the last four years.

Alan and Janet said: “There can be no finer satisfaction than being involved in the hospitality business and knowing that what you are offering is what the customer wants. We shall miss it.”
