PPHE Hotel Group has appointed Hasham Soliman as the general manager of Park Plaza London Westminster Bridge.

Soliman returns to the property where he previously served as hotel manager, including during the London 2012 Olympic Games. He has more than 30 years of experience in the luxury and lifestyle hotel sectors.

The new general manager has overseen the opening of seven hotels in London. His previous roles include area general manager for Sanderson London and St Martins Lane, and cluster general manager for Dominus Real Estate.

Soliman was also the opening general manager of the InterContinental London at The O2. He is a Master Innholders scholar and completed the advanced general manager programme at Cornell University.

During his time at Dominus, Soliman led the launches of Lost Property St Paul’s and The Dixon at Tower Bridge. Lost Property was named boutique hotel of the year at the 2024 Travel and Hospitality Awards.

PPHE Hotel Group holds a portfolio valued at £2.0bn. The company operates the Park Plaza brand in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa under an exclusive licence from Radisson Hotel Group.

Daniel Pedreschi, executive vice president of operations UK at PPHE, said: “I am delighted to return to Park Plaza London Westminster Bridge, a hotel that holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to working with the team to further strengthen its position as a leading destination on London’s South Bank.

“We are thrilled to welcome Hasham back to the group. His depth of experience across London’s luxury and lifestyle hotel market will help strengthen our position in one of the capital’s most exciting hospitality destinations.”

News Analysis

The appointment of Hasham Soliman as general manager at Park Plaza London Westminster Bridge marks a return to familiar territory, a path reminiscent of Suat Binkaya’s rise in June 2018 when he transitioned from hotel manager to general manager at the same flagship location, as discussed in this 2018 article. This cyclical nature within the hotel’s leadership reflects a preference for experienced hands that have previously navigated both operational challenges and high-profile events in the property, such as the London 2012 Olympics.

In appointing Soliman, PPHE is doubling down on a strategy that champions returning leaders with innate understanding of the flagship hotel’s ethos and operational dynamics, much like Daniel Pedreschi’s promotion in February 2018 after a successful term at the same establishment. His experience transformed the hotel’s profile, having been pivotal in sector awards and brand recognition, as echoed in this overview from early 2018.

This selection of leadership seems strategically aligned with PPHE’s vision for sustaining momentum within London’s competitive hospitality market while reinforcing its brand identity. As the organisation embarks on new projects such as the 179-room hotel at Park Plaza Victoria, the emphasis on experienced and familiar management is seen as a calculated approach to maximise returns in an evolving landscape, matching the ambition stated by Boris Ivesha in November 2023 regarding future asset development.
