Over 2,000 jobs pledged at BHA conversation

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

More than 2,000 job opportunities in hospitality were promised to Haringey residents at the latest Big Hospitality Conversation, held in collaboration with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation this week.

The event, which was hosted at White Hart Lane (Tottenham Hotspur’s ground) and included representatives from the Department of Work and Pensions and Haringey Council, generated some 2,000 jobs, 86 apprenticeships and 57 work experience placements.

Bourne Leisure, Costa, Premier Inn, Hilton, and Centreplate were some of the businesses who pledged jobs to 16 to 24 year old Haringey residents, while an employment team offered employability advice and guidance.

The 2,000 jobs pledged at the event takes the total amount of jobs generated by the Big Hospitality Conversation to over 40,000.

Ufi Ibrahim, CEO of the British Hospitality Association (BHA), said: “This event demonstrates that our industry is about action to grow jobs.

“We are going out into the community to demonstrate the range of exciting careers available across our industry. The BHA wants politicians to understand how important the hospitality and tourism industry is in generating high quality careers for young people.”

Former footballer Ledley King, who works with the club’s foundation, said: “Tottenham Hotspur is committed to creating employment opportunities for local young people, and holding regular job fairs at an iconic venue like White Hart Lane is a great way of doing this.

“It was great for me to attend yesterday’s event and speak to the many young people who are looking for a new challenge in their careers and being able to offer them some advice that if you are willing to work hard, there is so much you are able to achieve.”
