A Perthshire hotel owned by tennis world number one, Andy Murray, has announced plans to expand.
Work on The Cromlix, which is subject to planning permission, would see the creation of 30 additional bedrooms, spa treatment rooms, a conference and events area for up to 200 people and a gym designed by the tennis star.
The project would also include a breakfast and afternoon tea area that would be overseen by celebrity chef Albert Roux as part of the hotel’s existing Chez Roux restaurant.
Meanwhile, the first stage of the development would see the creation of an on-site accommodation building for staff. The company hopes 40 new jobs will be created if the development goes ahead.
Graeme Green, general manager at Cromlix, said the hotel has been a “real success story” since it reopened in 2014, with both the hotel and Chez Roux restaurant “far exceeding expectations” and often operating at capacity.
“We are now hoping to build on this success by extending the existing buildings to create additional hotel bedrooms, banqueting facilities and staff accommodation as well as growing the team,” he added.
It is expected that the hotel’s development will begin in 2018 with the new additions opening in 2020.
Named as Scottish Hotel of the Year at this year’s Hospitality Awards, Cromlix currently features 10 bedrooms, five suites and a gate lodge as well as a Chez Roux restaurant and on-site activities.
