Heythrop Park’s £40m refurb recognised with interior design award

The property has 337 bedrooms and offers lofty lounges, sweeping staircases, as well as three restaurants and two large theatres

Warner HotelsHeythrop Park has won The British Institute of Interior Design award for best interiors Midlands and East Anglia.

This comes after the 300-year-old Grade II-listed property underwent a £40m transformation following its acquisition by Warner Hotels in 2018 before it reopened for bookings last year.

The award celebrates “the very best” of British design, with entrants being judged against  rigorous criteria by industry experts.

According to judges, the design impressively combines period aesthetics and local heritage with contemporary edge. They also commented on how the hotel’s accessibility features blended seamlessly with the overall style.

This accolade is just one in a clutch of awards for Heythrop Park’s interior designer, DesignLSM, for its work on the hotel. Others include LIV Hospitality Design Awards’ History and Heritage Interior Design Award and Luxury Lifestyle Awards’ Best Luxury Hotel Interior Design Award.

The property has 337 bedrooms and offers lofty lounges, sweeping staircases, as well as three restaurants and two large theatres for daily shows, bands, music festivals and comedy nights.

Simon Thompson, MD of Warner Hotels, said: “We are thrilled that the interiors at Heythrop Park have been recognised – when we bought the property we set out to make it our biggest and most beautiful hotel yet. The stunning rooms with quirky features that capture guests’ imaginations are certainly stand-out, so it’s fantastic for this to have been recognised within the interior design community.

“Whether guests are here to relax, be entertained, or simply to escape everyday life, we wanted the environment to have it all while still maintaining the important historic aspects of the manor.”

He added: “We regularly get compliments on the hotel from guests, so it is wonderful to see DesignLSM’s work recognised further with these awards.”

Holly Hallam, MD of DesignLSM, said: “These awards are a testament to the work that went into creating beautiful and accessible spaces within Heythrop Park for guests to enjoy for many years to come.

“The historic building provided a wonderful canvas and opportunity to bring the 18th-Century to life while maintaining the modern amenities and comfort that is expected of a Warner Hotel.”
