The Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester has appointed Tracy Harrison as its new general manager, succeeding Jacqui Griffiths. Griffiths, who served for three years, departed for France. Harrison brings over 25 years of industry experience, having managed properties like The Midland and The Principal. The 40-room hotel, including signature suites and The House, welcomes her as they embark on an exciting year for both the hotel and the city of Manchester. GG Hospitality COO, Stewart Davies, expresses enthusiasm for Tracy’s leadership, emphasising her passion for hospitality.

In December 2023, London hotel occupancy surpassed pre-pandemic levels, reaching 80%, according to the RSM Hotels Tracker. Average daily rates increased in London and the UK, though still in line with December 2022 figures. The resilience of the hotel sector, especially in London, suggests consumer prioritisation of experiences over retail goods. Despite challenges, hoteliers maintained profits, and the positive trend is expected to continue into the second half of the year, with hopes of economic growth and inflation easing.

Radisson Hotel Group has launched career development tools, including its first Global Career Month. The initiative focuses on a career growth proposition grounded in three pillars: “Broad,” emphasising international mobility, “Clear,” providing defined career tracks, and “Fast,” injecting dynamism with career acceleration programmes. The online Global Career Month in September 2023 featured over 45 speakers, including the executive committee, engaging over 3,000 participants. The aim is to be the employer of choice, offering tools for meaningful career development in a competitive talent market.

Elite Hotels, the operator of three venues, has announced Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as its charitable partner for 2024. The Rotherwick Foundation, the group’s charitable arm, is actively supporting the charity, training dogs to transform the lives of deaf individuals. The collaboration involves in-house fundraising events at Elite’s hotels – Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club, Tylney Hall Hotel and Gardens, and The Grand Hotel. Funds raised will contribute to training assistance puppies, providing crucial support to those with hearing impairments.
