Focus Hotels has named Niki Ball as its new human resources director, bringing over 30 years of HR management experience in the hospitality sector. Ball’s expertise lies in recruitment, training, employee engagement, and shaping HR infrastructure. Her previous roles include key positions at Paramount Group of Hotels, The Midland Hotel, De Vere, and QHotels. Focus Hotels emphasises Ball’s appointment as a testament to its commitment to attracting top talent and prioritising employee development.

The Inn Collection Group launched its newest pub with rooms, Offshore, in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. The venue, overlooking St Annes Pier, features 98 bedrooms and extensive remodelling from its previous incarnation as the Lindum and Carlton hotels. The renovation transformed the Victorian-era building into a vibrant pub with modern amenities, including a revamped kitchen. The project reflects the group’s dedication to offering quality hospitality experiences.

Roadchef announced plans to open the UK’s second Super 8 by Wyndham hotel at its Durham motorway services on the A1(M). This follows the success of the first Super 8 hotel in Chester, which achieved Wyndham’s highest level of Green Certification for sustainable practices. The new hotel will continue Roadchef’s investment in upgrading its roadside accommodations, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and guest satisfaction.

The Glenpark Hotel in Ayr, South West Scotland, has been sold to a local family for conversion into their family home. The property, featuring 21 bedrooms, a bar, restaurant, and an annexed Ayr Brewing Company Brewery, attracted significant interest from local business owners. The sale was facilitated by Simon Watson of Christie and Co, with collaboration from other parties involved. The hotel’s transformation reflects the evolving landscape of hospitality properties and the potential for adaptive reuse.
