Mandarin Oriental has appointed Philippe Kronberg as general manager of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, and assistant vice-president operations, with effect from 12 January 2026.Alongside running the Hyde Park hotel, Kronberg will support Mandarin Oriental Mayfair and Mandarin Oriental Paris, as well as Mandarin Oriental Lutetia in Paris and Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam

The Amsterdam property is due to begin operating as a Mandarin Oriental hotel on 14 January.

Kronberg joins the group from Shangri-La, where he most recently served as resort general manager in Muscat, Oman. In that role, he oversaw a multi-property beachfront destination comprising three hotels with more than 640 rooms.

He was previously general manager of Shangri-La Sydney and held oversight of the group’s properties across Australasia. His earlier career includes general manager roles in Turkey, China, Thailand and Brisbane.

At Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, Kronberg will be responsible for all hotel operations and for overseeing service standards as the hotel continues to invest in its positioning within the capital’s luxury hospitality market.

A French and Australian national, Kronberg is fluent in English, French and German. He began his career at the Ritz Hotel in London after completing a diploma in hotel management at Les Roches in Switzerland, and later earned an executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, part of the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.

Outside of hospitality, he is a former paratrooper, holds a private pilot’s licence and is involved in charitable fundraising.
