The expansion includes a new voco hotel in London and three Garner properties across the Midlands and South Yorkshire

In this episode we speak to Daniel Kyriakides, a partner at law firm Reed Smith. We discuss why private members’ clubs are experiencing a resurgence and what that means for the future of the hotel sector. From heritage buildings being reimagined as lifestyle destinations to hotels borrowing the experiential playbook of members’ clubs, we discuss how the lines between the two are becoming increasingly blurred, and why global growth is on the horizon for the private members club model.

IHG Hotels and Resorts has signed an agreement with Fairview Hotels to open four new properties, adding 383 rooms to the company’s UK pipeline.

The deal includes the 114-room Voco London – Bloomsbury and three midscale Garner hotels located in Lincoln, Rotherham and Chesterfield.

The Voco London – Bloomsbury, situated on Southampton Row, occupies a Victorian building and is expected to undergo rebranding before opening in mid-2026.

The 91-room Garner Hotel Rotherham East opened in January 2025, while the Lincoln and Chesterfield North properties are scheduled to open in February 2026.

These additions bring the total number of hotels in the partnership between IHG and Fairview Hotels to six.

IHG vice president, development, Europe, Willemijn Geels said: “The continued growth that we’re seeing across the market is a testament to the confidence our partners have in IHG’s brands, and it is exciting to see our newer voco and Garner brands resonating with owners and guests alike.

“We know our owners value faster routes to market and stronger returns on their investment; conversion opportunities like these, supported by IHG’s powerful enterprise platform, help deliver exactly that.”

A Fairview Hotels spokesperson added: “The opening of voco Letchworth Hall last year gave us valuable insights into the brand’s strength and how it can deliver and we are excited about bringing another voco hotel to a prime tourist area in the heart of Bloomsbury London.

“Building on this momentum, we look forward to expanding the Garner brand into Lincoln, Rotherham East and Chesterfield North – enhancing choice and quality for guests in these high-demand locations.”
