Hyatt Hotels Manchester has appointed Harry Fitton as director of operations and Rachael Askem as director of sales to lead its dual-branded property on Oxford Road.

Fitton returns to the Hyatt Regency and Hyatt House Manchester hotels having previously served on the pre-opening team in 2019.

His career includes roles as head of hotel operations at Ty Milford Waterfront and positions at Andaz London Liverpool Street.

In his new role, he will manage all operational departments, focusing on service standards and guest experience across the 328-room complex.

Meanwhile, Askem joins the group from Hilton Manchester Deansgate, where she managed corporate and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) business.

Her experience includes tenures at King Street Townhouse and Discover the World. At Hyatt, she will oversee commercial strategy across the leisure, entertainment, and long-stay segments while managing the local sales team.

The dual-branded building consists of the 212-room Hyatt Regency and the 116-suite Hyatt House, which caters to extended-stay guests.

The property is located within the University of Manchester’s innovation district and previously received regional business awards in 2023 and 2024.

Filton said: “Coming back feels special, and it’s a privilege to return in this role. I want every guest experience to feel effortless while continuing to develop our teams and uphold the standards the hotel is known for.”

Rachael Askem, director of sales, added: “Manchester is a city built on relationships, and hospitality is about people. I’m excited to grow our presence in the events and leisure sectors while showcasing both the hotel and the city to new audiences.”

Assumpta McDonald, cluster general manager, added: “Having Harry return to Hyatt Hotels Manchester reflects our belief in investing in people. Rachael brings an understanding of the Manchester market and the relationships that matter. Together they add experience and perspective that will continue to shape the hotels’ role within the city.”

Leadership appointments signal strategic continuity for Hyatt Manchester

The recent appointments of Harry Fitton and Rachael Askem at Hyatt Hotels Manchester underscore a commitment to enhancing operational and sales excellence within their dual-branded property. Fitton’s return aligns with the 2019 launch of the Hyatt Regency and Hyatt House Manchester hotels, where his prior involvement lays a foundation for improved service standards. Askem’s experience at Hilton Manchester Deansgate enriches her role in commercial strategy, following Hyatt Manchester’s earlier focus on developing corporate and events business capabilities.

The strategic appointments align with Hyatt’s long-standing approach to nurturing internal talent, benefiting from Fitton’s operational expertise and Askem’s market knowledge. This pattern resonates with their 2021 recruitment of a new commercial director aiming to bolster the brand’s presence. Through these efforts, Hyatt continues to reinforce its role in Manchester’s hospitality sector, adapting to market demands while upholding established service quality.
