UK visits from International tourists reached an all-time high for the month of February this year, up 8% on the same month last year as spend also increased by 6%.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures show that 2.25 million visits were made in February 2016, with visitor spend standing at almost £1.1bn.
The figures, which follow the record-breaking January results, were pushed up by business visits – up 12% on the same month last year to 750,000 visits, a new record for the month.
Tourism Minister David Evennett said: “This record-breaking start to the year shows that our fantastic array of attractions remain hugely popular with visitors from all over the world.
“There is so much to see and do across the whole of the UK and we are absolutely committed to encouraging tourists to see all the hidden gems we have to offer.”
Britain could be set for another boost this month with the Queen’s 90th birthday, the arrival of US President Barack Obama, and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death on 23 April.
