Hotels can now apply for membership schemes including the three-level visitor ready, quality assessed, and quality star rated accreditations

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The AA has announced it will recommence its hotel and hospitality quality accreditation scheme in the Republic of Ireland to support standards and business growth in the industry.

The move is said to mark a milestone in AA’s plans to recognise excellence across the Irish hospitality sector.

AA Hotel and Hospitality Services will conduct all inspections. Hotels can now apply for membership schemes including the three-level visitor ready, quality assessed, and quality star rated accreditations.

The programme includes the AA Rosette award for culinary excellence, which marks its 70th Century anniversary in 2026. This accolade remains a key feature for dining.

Participating hotels will receive promotion on the RatedTrips website and in AA publications. The digital platform has seen a 23% increase in traffic over the past year.

Member profile pages have likewise been updated to improve search functionality and engagement, while modernised signage has been introduced to increase brand recognition at physical sites.

Simon Numphud, managing director of AA Media, said: “The AA has been supporting and working with the hospitality industry for over 118 years, a heritage of which we are very proud. We are committed to the continued recognition of excellence and widening our reach to benefit all those that wish to be AA accredited.

“We have played an integral part in AA Hotels in Ireland in the past, and we are delighted to be assuming full responsibility for the schemes there moving forward.”

Don Brennan, chief commercial officer at AA Ireland, added: “We are pleased to see the AA’s quality schemes formally re-established in the Republic of Ireland.

“Independent accreditation plays an important role in supporting standards across our hospitality sector, and this renewed focus will provide Irish hoteliers with both recognition and enhanced visibility to key domestic and UK audiences. We look forward to working closely with the AA UK.”
