HM The Queen visits Hatfield House

The Queen recently visited the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I, Hatfield House, Hertfordshire, as part of her cross-country Diamond Jubilee tour.

Her Majesty planted an oak tree to open the new Jubilee Wood, created by the Hatfield Park Forestry, on her visit as well as enjoying a luncheon in Hatfield House’s grand Marble Hall.

Hatfield House’s head chef Kevin Dean created a two-course menu consisting of a courgette mousse, saffron marinated chicken, medley of summer vegetables and Jersey Royals for the Queen.

Head chef for Hatfield House Hospitality, one of the two companies providing the catering and service for the event, Barry Jarvis said: “It was an honour to cook for Her Majesty the Queen on such an illustrious occasion.

“The brief given to us was clear; it had to be a two-course traditional, high-quality meal and one that was befitting of a monarch.”

General manager of Hatfield House Hospitality Allen Wright added: “We were delighted to host Her Majesty the Queen on this very special occasion. It was a fantastic event and a wonderful opportunity for all of the staff to see her.

“We hope to have the pleasure of hosting her again in the future.”
