Prior to working at Hartwell House, Hughes spent time working in hotels in the USA, Ireland and the UK. He was previously assistant restaurant manager at the five-star Rosewood London Hotel and before that spent time with Hand Picked Hotels and the Capella Hotel Group. He began his career at the five-star Lough Eske Castle hotel in Donegal.
Hartwell House is a stately home situated in rural Buckinghamshire, set in over 90 acres of countryside with landscaped gardens and parkland.
It features 48 rooms and suites, all individually designed in a traditional country house style and furnished with antiques and fine paintings.
The site’s two AA Rosette winning restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and afternoon tea is served in several public rooms including in The Drawing Room and in The Morning Room. Hartwell Spa also welcomes Spa Club members, hotel guests and non-resident guests for spa treatments and Spa Day experiences.
The hotel operates as a self-sufficient commercial hotel operation under the existing management of Historic House Hotels, calling it a “unique and beneficial relationship”.
