The Headland has appointed Sue Williams as its new non-executive director.

The Cornish hotel described Williams as an “industry leader with a deep passion for sustainability, people-first leadership and purpose-driven business”, bringing a “strong track record of steering organisations toward environmental best practice and a more people-positive future”.

As part of her role on the board, Williams will help the Cornish hotel shape a “bold and responsible” future.

Working closely with the board of directors, the managing director and senior management team, she will focus on developing sustainability strategies in conjunction with EarthCheck and nurturing a “people-powered” culture.

Veryan Palmer, family director of The Headland, said: “It’s not every day a family board of directors opens its arms to an outsider. But Sue brings exactly what we were looking for, fresh thinking, sharp insight and a shared love for this beautiful place and the people who make it special.”

Williams added: “This hotel is part of Cornwall’s soul. It’s an honour to join the team and help shape its next chapter, one that marries the family values with the rigor to meet the opportunities and pace of change that lie ahead.”

Jason Adams’ position as managing director remains unchanged, he continues to oversee the operations across the business and be the team’s day-to-day leader.
