Hand Picked Hotels puts two properties on the market
Hand Picked Hotels has put two of its properties on the market, as the group concentrates on larger country house hotels with more than 30 bedrooms.
The Priest House Hotel in Castle Donington, Derbyshire, has been put on the market for £3.25m, while the Seiont Manor Hotel in Snowdonia, North Wales is on the market for £2m.
The 42-bedroom Priest House Hotel is located in a converted Norman mill tower and 17th Century cottage on the banks of the River Trent, and has been granted planning permission for an additional 41 bedrooms, a function suite and a leisure pool.
Julia Hands, chairman and chief executive of Hand Picked Hotels, said: “The Priest House is an attractive property in a lovely setting but it does not fit fully with the Hand Picked aspiration of an historic country house hotel. We also have a concentration of hotels in the Midlands, with gaps elsewhere geographically which we would like to fill.”
Meanwhile the 28-bedroom Seiont Manor Hotel, sitting in 22 acres of grounds, has conference and function facilities and a 40-foot indoor heated swimming pool. Hands said that the three-star hotel does not fit in with the group’s strategy as a 4-star hotel collection.
Simon Stevens, director at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, said: “Considering the quality of each asset we are confident these outstanding hotel businesses will attract competitive interest, particularly as new owners will be able to seamlessly take over and lead the hotels into the future.”
Hands added that the group is keen to add additional properties to its portfolio, and it is continuing to search for hotels in strategic locations across the UK.
