An independent hotel group with sites in Euston and Camden Town has been shortlisted for the Polestar and Country and Town House Sustainable Hotel of the Year Awards 2026.
The Wesley reported a carbon footprint per guest 50% lower than the London average. This follows the group’s alignment with the Methodist Church net zero 2030 target.
The 139-room group, owned by the Methodist Church, uses 100% renewable electricity and has removed all single-use plastics from its daily operations.
Management confirmed the group maintains status as a London Living Wage Employer. It recruits 73% of its staff from the local community to retain economic benefits within the borough.
The Camden site is integrated into a Methodist church, combining architectural preservation with social initiatives including foodbank support. The Euston property is currently undergoing fabric improvements.
The group currently holds Green Key, Green Tourism Gold, and ECOsmart Platinum certifications. Long-term strategy remains focused on building improvements and transparent carbon reporting.
Winners will be announced on 1 May 2026 to coincide with the publication of the annual Great British and Irish Hotels guide.
